Formed in November 2010 by the directors that still run the company today, Kevin and Andy’s ambition was to change how homes produce and use energy for the better. Explore our company history, learn about where we’ve come from, and what makes us who, and what, we are today.

2010

The year it all began

We opened our very first office in Shepperton, focusing on repairs and maintenance services for Solar PV, following the introduction of the government Feed-in-Tariff.

2011

New Weston-super-Mare office

Our new office in Weston-super-Mare was opened, serving as the location for our head office. This year also saw the signing of the North Somerset Housing Solar Framework, aimed at delivering Solar PV Installations. This was the first installation framework solely for renewables in the UK.

2012 – 2013

The popularity of the North Somerset Housing Solar framework resulted in our supply of a further 5000 Solar PV systems in 2012.

PAS2030 was introduced in 2013, changing the standard for the way Insulation and renewables were to be installed. We were certified to PAS2030:2013 allowing our install team to continue to grow.

2014 -2015

LCX won contracts with SSE to install External Wall Insulation (EWI) for a number of major clients.

We introduced our all-inclusive Maintenance and Breakdown packages in 2015. Being one of the first renewables companies to offer this package to housing providers.

2016 – 2017

Low Carbon Exchange acquired Diamond Bead Cavity Extract and Refill, leading to the opening of our Willand office.

PAS2030:2017 arrived in 2017, a major revision to retrofit standards. LCX continued to deliver compliant, funded works to domestic properties for our clients.

2018

LCX were appointed as the main contractor to one of the UK’s largest Housing Associations. Conducting repairs, maintenance and servicing across multiple renewable measures throughout their housing stock.

2019

The UK government announced its commitment to Net Zero 2050

  • 100’s of millions of pounds worth of funding was made available to social housing providers to retrofit their housing stock.

  • LCX reached a milestone achievement, directly employing a total of 50 skilled mobile engineers within our growing teams!

2020

10 years of Low Carbon Exchange!

Working through the Covid-19 Pandemic, we faced numerous, ever-changing challenges in the sector.

LCX secures a place on the LHC N8 Energy Framework for all regions.

2021

New Head Office

We moved our Head office in Weston-super-Mare to a larger premises to house our growing teams in both Maintenance and Retrofit.

2022

Training Academy grand opening!

The year our new Training Academy opened, filled with all the renewable technology needed to train and upskill our new and existing engineers.

  • We had success in securing a place on the Fusion21 Decarbonisation Framework

  • Our in-house PAS Hub team continued to grow in size

  • Our engineers attend a record number of emergency callouts

  • Company re-brand

2023

LCX receive multiple awards for our current and previous contracts!

  • Large scale retrofit project in the South West
  • Large Scale retrofit project in London
  • Highly commended insulation contractor

Our Training Centre is now fully accredited by the NICEIC and LCL awards.

LCX win a place on the Greener Futures Partnership Decarbonisation Framework.
