LCX opens new Renewables Training Centre

After almost a year of planning and building, we opened the doors to our new training centre in 2022 at our Head Office in Weston-super-Mare.

The centre showcases an array of renewable technologies, allowing engineers to train and upskill, giving LCX a competitive edge in the renewables market. Our long-term plan was to be able to train internal and external attendee’s and also to have the ability to deliver renewable training workshops to clients.

We welcomed our new trainer Paul Matthews to the centre in September of 2022, and it has now become an accredited centre offering courses certified under both NICEIC and LCL Logic.

We are able to offer accredited courses for all renewable technologies, including:

    • Solar PV
    • Solar Thermal
    • Ventilation Systems
    • Heat Pumps
    • Unvented Cylinders
    • Safe Isolation
    • Hot Water Systems and Safety
    • Part L & WRAS

The centre has seen many visitors since its opening from manufacturers training on best practise and new products, Housing Associations receiving lunch and learn courses around renewables, and our own workforce being put through their paces ensuring they are at the top of their game.

“We know 29 million houses need retrofitting by 2050, that’s 1.8 homes per minute, according to the Committee on Climate Change. To meet our net zero ambition by 2030, it’s projected that the retrofit sector will need to create around 14,000 new green jobs at all skill levels.”

We hope by offering this unique in-house training to our own staff, visitors, and anyone looking to get into the industry, we can take steps toward achieving our mission: To become a nationally recognised training provider and centre for green skills in the UK.

The start has been a bright one, and we can’t wait to see the training centre grow and develop, supporting the green skills gap.
